ASTM A269 is a specification by the American Society for Testing and Materials for seamless and welded austenitic stainless steel tubing used in corrosion-resistant and high-temperature service. The TP316L grade refers to a low-carbon variant of Type 316 stainless steel, optimized for welding and harsh environments.

Carbon (C): ≤0.03% (low carbon minimizes carbide precipitation during welding)
Other elements: Manganese (≤2%), Silicon (≤0.75%), Phosphorus (≤0.045%), Sulfur (≤0.03%), Iron (balance)
