ASTM A179 covers minimum wall thickness, seamless cold-drawn low-carbon steel tubes for tubular heat exchangers, condensers, and similar heat transfer apparatus.

Manufacturing Process: Tubes shall be made by the seamless process and shall be cold drawn.
Surface Condition: Finished tubes shall be free of scale. A slight amount of oxidation will not be considered as scale.
Hardness Requirements: The tubes shall have a hardness number not exceeding 72 HRB.
Heat Treatment: Tubes shall be heat treated after the final cold draw pass at a temperature of 1200°F [650°C] or higher.
Flattening Test, Flaring Test, Flange Test, Hardness Test, Hydrostatic Test.
Embedded G fin tubes feature fins mechanically embedded into grooves plowed into the tube, then locked into place by back-filling with the base tube material. The G fin is made by tension winding a fin strip (typically aluminum or copper) into a groove machined on the tube's outer surface.
Processing Technology: Fins are tightly embedded in the outer surface of the mechanically slotted base tube.
Base Tube Materials: Carbon steel, alloy steel, stainless steel, and copper.
Fin Materials: Aluminum (Al 1060, Al 1100) or copper (T2 copper).
Applications: HVAC air cooler, refrigeration, condensers, heat exchanger, power generation, heater, radiator economizer (Suitable for high temperature environments up to 350℃).
